Gallery Project Critique
The picture I put in the photo show is one of a tree that has a beautiful contrast in color and shape. The picture can mean different things for different people. I went with an emotional approach to this assignment because the picture causes you to feel different things when you see it. Some may say It showing a different in light Vs. darkness, good Vs Evil or even different races, but together creating something beautiful. The focal point in the picture is some lighter colored leaves that stand out very brightly against many darker leaves, as well as some dark leaves shaped like cradles in the bottom right corner.
The shapes in the picture are very welcoming. The leaves in the bottom right are shaped like cradles and looks like somewhere very comfortable to lay down and sleep, it makes me want to crawl into the picture. The texture is amazing because the way the leaves are shaped are very welcoming but then you can see every little line, and bump that is on the surface of the leaves which makes it much more rough looking. The back ground of the picture is mostly just black, but it helps to make the other leaves stand out and the random white spots of light poking through add to the picture nicely. The colors are beautiful too, not only is the picture black and white but every shade of gray in between, personally I like the picture better in black and white then I do the original color version.
The elements that make my picture good are the shapes of the leaves, they make the picture more inviting, the way the lighting hits only the small group of leaves in the center, and the many shades of gray and blacks that fill all the spaces. I’m really happy with the picture I took and don’t think I would change anything about it if I had the chance to. I actually didn’t have much time to work on this project, I used an old picture that I already had on the hard drive but spent a lot of time in photoshop turning the picture black and white. Next time I’m hoping to have a little more time to work on the art show experimenting with different types of pictures and different lighting. Overall I am really happy with the picture that I chose to use for this project and I hope everyone else enjoys it just as much.
